This weekend will be the 21st edition of the Cycle-Smart International at Look Park in Northampton, Massachusetts. This weekend’s racing are the fifth and sixth rounds of the Shimano New England Professional Cyclocross Series. Led by Justin Lindine (bikereg.com/Joe’s Garage) and Laura Van Gilder (Mellow Mushroom p/b C3), the Shimano Series has shown the depth of racing in New England while featuring some of the most historic races in the United States.
While the pros have the Shimano Series, Amateur, Junior and Masters racers are vying for the coveted Verge New England Cyclo-Cross Series leader’s jersey. Cycle-Smart International’s races are the eighth and ninth in the Verge Series. Further, Cycle-Smart International is a key part of the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference’s Cyclocross Series. All these add up to one of the most exciting events of the season and not a weekend to miss.
Of course, in the wake of the unseasonable Nor’easter of the past weekend we’re excited to say that Look Park is ready to host one of the premier cyclocross races in the country. Our schedule for the weekend is going to run as planned.
Friday night is the third annual Pick Up Party, once again hosted at Northampton Coffee by local coffee magnate Mukunda Feldman — the “M” in the NCC/JAM Fund Team. The party kicks off at 7:30 and runs until 9. We’ll have coffee, beer, snacks, music and cross racing on the tv, plus the chance to pick up your numbers before the racing kicks off. The address for Northampton Coffee is 269 Pleasant Street in Northampton.
A reminder – Cycle-Smart International is a pre-registration only event. Registration can be found on bikereg.com and closes at 8pm on Thursday, November 3rd.
Look forward to more information and announcements as the weekend gets closer!
