The beginning of November was a busy time for Canada’s Michael van den Ham (Garneau – Easton p/b Transitions LifeCare).

Van den Ham kicked off the month with an instant classic against Curtis White (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) at the Pan-American Championships.

He then headed to Peterborough and successfully defended his Canadian National Championship in the snowy, muddy race there. Not one to rest, he then headed back to British Columbia and won the Provincial Championship.

Not a bad way to start the month.

Earlier this month we did an interview with Women’s Canadian Nats champion Maghalie Rochette (CX Fever p/b Specialized), and now it is Van den Ham’s turn on the (very friendly) Canadian champ hot seat.

We chatted about what was different defending his title this year versus winning his first and then headed back to Midland for an in-depth look at the race at Pan-Ams, including the much-talked-about sprint finish.
