UK National cyclocross Champion has been made a brand ambassador for the Challenge, one of the world’s leading producers of cyclocross tubulars. Having been a Challenge-sponsored rider for several seasons, Helen will now step up her role and will be seen as an ambassador for the brand at events in the USA and Europe.
Both USA and Europe are key markets for Challenge as they continually work to improve the options available for riders in cyclocross. Helen has been one of the first European riders to regularly make the trip to America to race and last season took home nine wins in nine events, setting up a solid season where she finished fifth overall in the UCI World Cup.
“I’m really happy to represent Challenge. They are a leading brand who have put faith in me over the past seasons. They are always innovating and I’ve enjoyed test products behind the scenes for them. I’m now at a stage of my career where I’m recognised and this has opened the door to ambassador roles. It’s something I’m working very hard on now, and I’m really happy Challenge are the first brand as I’ve had such a long association with them” said Helen about the role.
Challenge have been making tubulars since the early 2000’s and have built up a huge reputation in the cyclocross market. Last season they introduced the Limus tubular, which Helen rode to victory in GP Gloucester in October 2011. Also in the Challenge range are the Grifo, Grifo XS and the Fango treads. Challenge also off the open tubular version of their treads, allowing riders to use clincher wheels, something which adds to the appeal of Challenge for riders all levels.
Helen is a professional cyclocross rider for Kona, an American based off-road team. In the 2011/12 season Helen won 11 races and is currently building towards to coming season where the World Championships will take place in the USA.
“Helen is a leading cyclocross rider, and currently sits 4th in the UCI World Rankings. We think she is the perfect positive ambassador for our brand around the world. She has huge respect within the sport, always gives 100% and has a huge on-line following. We’ve supported Helen for many years now and we’re really pleased to have increase our backing for Helen as she looks to improve even further in the coming season.” said Challenge
