On Wednesday, racing kicked off in Boulder, Colorado, with non-championship races and the singlespeed races. Brady Kappius took silver in the singlespeed men’s race, and we checked in with him after the race to find out how it went and what he’s expecting for the Elite race on Sunday.
On second place… I’m satisfied. Second place is good, but…
On the race… No mechanicals. It was biomechanical, maybe, but Tim was riding on another level today and he was a deserving winner. I was just trying to ride inside my limit. I didn’t want to go over the limit on a singlespeed. It’s hard to recover, especially at altitude.”
On following Tim Allen… When you’re riding behind somebody you can figure out their strengths and weaknesses a little better, so I did that for a lap and decided where I wanted to play my cards towards the end.”
On the next race… I usually do the singlespeed race just to get some laps at race pace, otherwise it’s super hard to do with everybody pre-riding. It’s a good opener on the Wednesday before the weekend and it’s fun. So I’m feeling good for Sunday.
