Boulder, Colorado – The Boulder Cycle Sport Cyclocross Team is back for the 2011 season with the enthusiastic support of both new and returning sponsors. The team is composed of more than 50 riders, from juniors through elite, and is again led by the BCS Cyclocross Ambassadors, a core group of veteran riders dedicated to teaching and growing the sport of cyclocross.
With September races behind them, the team is on track to repeat its success from last year where they finished the season as the top-ranked program in Colorado. The team collected first or second place in eight different 2010 Colorado Cross Cup team categories, as well as strong individual performances at the State, National and World level. This year, team has already earned numerous podiums and set a new record for team participation as 52 BCS riders toed the line for the September 24 Boulder Cyclocross Series race.
Heading the program are BCS Cyclocross Ambassadors, who bring over 50 combined years of racing experience to promote and share the sport of cyclocross to grassroots riders of all age and ability. The Ambassador Team leads free skills clinics, seminars, volunteer trailwork sessions, group rides, and junior coaching. Last season, the program included nearly 20 events and helped more than 200 cyclists improve their cyclocross riding. The BCS Ambassadors will provide free weekly clinics every Wednesday from 5:30 – 7:00pm, September 1 through October 12. The clinics will progress over the course of the season to teach core skills such as mounting, dismounting, cornering and racing tactics. The clinics are open to all and will always have a group dedicated to beginners.
