Last week, Wout van Aert (Jumbo – Visma) announced his plans for 4 more 2020 cyclocross races with a TBD for the 5th.

That TBD was for the World Championships, and today, Belgium announced that the TBD has been D’d, with Van Aert named to the team’s roster for the 2020 Dübendorf World Championships 2 weeks hence.

Belgium is sending a contingent of seven men and three women to Switzerland.

Headlining the Women’s team is three-time World Champion Sanne Cant (IKO – Crelan), who faces the tough task of again defeating the Dutch as she did in Bogense last year. Joining her are Ellen Van Loy (Telenet Baloise Lions) and Laura Verdonschot (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal).

The Men’s team includes Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal), World Cup overall leader Toon Aerts (Telenet Baloise Lions), Belgian Champ Laurens Sweeck (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal), Quinten Hermans (Telenet Baloise Lions), Tim Merlier (Creafin – Fristads), Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen – Binoal) and Van Aert.

The Elite Women’s race takes place on Saturday, February 1 and the Elite Men’s on Sunday, February 2.
