If there’s a non-UCI cyclocross weekend that’s worthy of a road trip, Michigan’s Snap Fitness Alma GP and Uncle John’s Dirty Ride weekend, on September 10-11, the same weekend as the Rochester Cyclocross weekend out east, makes a strong case it should be the one.
With a full day of cyclocross racing, onsite camping, a 5k running race and a scenic gravel ride, the weekend is packing in the fun. Want proof? Promoter Brian Hancock and his crew put together a course preview video of the new 2016 Alma GP course, and despite GoPro and other action camera’s tendency to minimize vertical change (remember Austin Nationals preview videos?), the course looks challenging and a blast to ride.
There’s off-cambers and fast downhills:
Plus two sets of stairs, one which is rideable for those with skills:
Unless you’re Carl Decker on a full squish bike, this one may be a little harder to ride:
That’s just a small sample of the course’s features. Have a look at what’s in store for 2016 Alma GP racers in the course preview video below:
At Alma GP’s venue, even the equestrians are curious to watch cyclocross and happy to give priority to racers come race day:
Registration is open for both the Alma GP and Uncle John’s Dirty Ride. See you there?
