Bart Aernouts (AA Drink) and Sanne van Paassen (Rabobank) have won the international cyclo cross in Woerden. In the late evening race, Aernouts attacked from the start with Bart Wellens (Telenet-Fidea) and Dieter Vanthourenhout (BKCP-Powerplus). Lars van der Haar (Rabobank) crashed hard and had to chase all the way but finished in seventh. Wellens struggled with the pace of his compatriots and dropped off first. A crash by Vanthourenhout then left Aernouts free to enjoy his win in Woerden.
In the women’s race it was a battle between Tabor World Cup winner Sanne van Paassen (Rabobank) and British National Champion Helen Wyman (Kona). Wyman, who did the most of the pace setting, tried to get rid of Van Paassen, but the Dutch Rabobank rider again proved fastest in the sprint. Belgian Champion Sanne Cant (BKCP-Powerplus) finished in third after getting rid of Ellen van Loy and Sophie de Boer.
