While some Norcal cyclocrossers may still be recovering from the weekend of regret called SSCXWC, cyclocross racing returns with the final stop of the Bay Area Super Prestige series on December 3, 2023 at Stafford Lake in Novato, California.
The race also takes advantage of the CXM promoter partnership to grow the sport, with free racing for first-timers, and free promotion from us. Cyclocross curious? Have a mountain bike, gravel bike or cyclocross bike and want to give #shorttrackgravel racing a try? Or have a friend who might want to tag along? It doesn’t require a $200 entry fee, a lottery, or a full weekend to get a great workout on your bike and be home in time for dinner.

December sees the return of Bicycle Law Cross Infestation and the 6th and final race of the 2023 Bay Area Super Prestige Series! The 2023 Infestation continues the 20-plus-year tradition of running the signature Bay Area cyclocross event on the first weekend of December.
Cross Infestation will return to Stafford Lake this year, due in part to ongoing repairs to the Coyote Point park following extensive storm damage this past Spring.
Cross Infestation, brought to you again by Title Sponsor Bicycle Law and Team Roading Mouse, represents the conclusion of the seven-race Bay Area Super Prestige, where series podiums will be presented.
“BASP has grown bigger and better each year,” says race and series organizer Michael Knighten. “This year, we were extremely excited to bring on Hyperthreads as our series sponsor, who are supplying some rad winner’s jerseys for the top podiums and t-shirts for the others! And with the addition of Bariani CX this year, there are even more opportunities for racers to compete in the Bay Area series. Last year, BASP had over 800 racers across the races, and we’re expecting even more this year!”

Cross Infestation – The Event
There will be 26 classes over 8 races, including a kid’s race, so bring the whole family! Food, beer and merchandise vendors will be on site. The race was first held in 2019 and was a huge success. First-time racers race for free!

The Course:
The Infestation course is 3100 meters of verminous hell! Each lap begins with an extended leg-sapping grass section punctuated by tall barriers before tearing off down two-track and a loop under the trees. Riders plunge into the Stream of Poor Life Choices before a long, speedy straight of hard-packed dirt road. The flat sections end with a pair of tough climbs and bumpy descents. At this point, A racers will tackle the steep runup around The Skull. Back on the front side of the course, there’s a sweeping section of banked turns before taking on the Critter Climb to the top of the park. Then it’s top speed back to the Finish Line!
