It was the Eli Iserbyt show in Waterloo. The 2021-2022 UCI Cyclocross World Cup winner and 2021 World Cup Waterloo defending champ wasted little time in showing that he intends to defend his series and Wisconsin titles.
Within a few turns, Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) was at the front and in control, and on the second lap, Iserbyt opened up a gap he’d never relinquish.

Laurens Sweeck (Crelan Fristads) briefly made it interesting with a surge on Lap Four, narrowing the gap to Iserbyt down to just seven seconds, but that’s as close as anyone would get to the eventual winner.
Man on a mission! 🥇

Behind Iserbyt and Sweeck, a tight battle for third played out on the last lap. Thibau Nys (Baloise Trek Lions) dabbed and fell off the pace, leaving Iserbyt’s loyal teammate Michael Vanthourenhout and Lars van der Haar (Baloise Trek Lions) to contest the sprint.
Down the finishing straight, Vanthourenhout banged his bars as Van der Haar sprinted to third.
