Belgian Yannick Peeters has followed the family path of traveling the world, racking up airline miles and UCI cyclocross points in the process.
Peeters followed his cousin Rob’s trajectory by heading east to China to claim UCI points. Rob Peeters won the Yanqing stop of the Qiansen Trophy in 2016.
Yannick Peeters also won the first stop of the Qiansen Trophy at the Aohan Station, matching fellow Belgian Joyce Vanderbeken’s two-for-two performance.
The Belgian cyclocross racers seem to have taken an early-season divide-and-conquer approach, taking wins at Ethias Cross Eeklo in Belgium, Day 1 of Rochester Cyclocross in the U.S. and at the first installment of the Qiansen Trophy Cyclocross races in China.
Nine Americans seized the chance to travel to China and contest the Qiansen Trophy Elite Men’s race. See the full results below.
Unlike the UCI C1 and C2 events held in the U.S. this season, the Chinese events did not have races for the UCI Junior Men.
