Elite Suito Smart Trainer
The beauty of new technology is that those who sit on the sidelines are often rewarded with more affordable and more refined products. That certainly applies to smart trainers.
The new Elite Suito Smart Trainer is the perfect example of how far we’ve come. For $799, you get a relatively quiet, portable trainer that includes an 11-speed cassette, a block for the front wheel.
The Elite Suito trainer might win over gift-givers thanks to its ability to disappear with two fold-out legs, a convenient handle and small footprint. That means the sweaty cyclist has no excuses for leaving it out in the middle of the living room or garage. Fold in the legs, grab the handle and take advantage of its small footprint to stash it away. Thankfully, it’s handsome enough that the lucky recipient could make it the center of attention, Clue Heywood-style.
The Suito comes with nearly everything you need to get started riding, assuming you’re on 11-speeds and have a modern device. I had to pick up an Ant+ dongle for my ancient laptop, but once I had that in hand, it was off to the races, literally and virtually.
The Suito comes with a 30-day trial membership to Zwift. It also comes with a one-year trial of Elite’s own training software. It pairs with Zwift easily as a controllable trainer, and doing so gives you power meter data.
The Suito packs a lot of value into a $799 smart trainer. It’s got all the resistance any amateur will need, and offers relatively quick response times and power accuracy for the numbers obsessed.
At $799, lucky bike racing recipients will likely be thrilled at receiving such a high-value, useful gift, if they’re already the ride indoors type. Perhaps so much so they’ll start a year-long vlog to document the journey.
Just make sure your cycling loved one has indoor workouts on his or her wishlist. If not, the gift might take a wrong turn towards gin.
Stay tuned for a full review.
