Multi-Tools
Multi-tools can be another cycling necessity where having something nice is … nice.
Two functional, portable multi-tools that have found their way into our saddle bags are the Spurcycle Tool and Mineral Design Mini Bar. Both multi-tools feature a handle and chuck with removable bits.
The Spurcycle Tool is a bit lighter with a steel handle and movable chuck and titanium bits.

The Mineral Design multi-tool has a more sturdy steel handle and weighs a bit more.

What I liked about both multi-tools is they are easy to slip into either a saddle bag or jersey pocket without adding too much weight. The handles provide excellent torque and the available bits cover what you would expect to need out on a ride. And contrary to what I expected, I have not lost a single bit yet. Also, both products and designed and produced here in the U.S.
The Spurcycle Tool retails for $69 (more info) and the Mineral Design Mini Bar for $40 (more info).
