2018-2019 UCI Cyclocross Race Calendar – World Cups, C1, C2 & National & World Championships

Updated 4/16/2018: More race pieces are falling into place and the UCI has updated its calendar accordingly. See the current calendar, and as always, stay tuned for future updates likely to occur.

The initial 2018-2019 UCI Cyclocross Race Calendar is out, and it’s a packed schedule yet again, with two American World Cups, and 185 total days of UCI racing. Of course, much can change between now and the start of the season, with missing events being added back to the calendar.

Nittany Lion is back as a UCI race, now that the pre-Interbike weekend is no longer filled with a World Cup. Deschutes Brewery’s GO Cross weekend in Roanoke, Virginia is a new addition to the calendar, as is the Really Rad CX Festival in Falmouth, MA. Noticeably missing right now is the KMC Cross Fest.

This year’s December USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships is already proving problematic to European series-focused racers, as the DVV and Superprestige fall on the same weekend as Nationals. There are nine World Cup stops, with a Switzerland stop and return to Tabor, Czech Republic.

Right now, there are a total of 47 North American UCI racing days. 8 are in Canada and 37 are in the U.S. Included in these numbers are Canadian Nationals, U.S. Nationals and the Pan-American Championships in Midland, Ontario. The following table summarizes the North American calendar.

What do the classes mean?

• CDM=World Cup
• CM=World Championships
• CC=Continental Championships
• CCM=Masters Continental Championships
• CMM=Masters World Championships
• CN=National Championships
• C1=UCI C1 status, with points going 15 places deep, 80 points to the winner
• C2=UCI C2 status, with points going 10 places deep, 40 points to the winner

Breakdown by Country:

Twenty different countries will host UCI cyclocross races, according to the schedule released today, as compared to 24 last year.

The U.S.’ UCI calendar predictably contracts with Nationals moving up nearly a month earlier to December. This year, there are only 39 UCI days on tap, while last year there were 42, but we expect that number to increase as the missing events are added back.

Many countries are one or two races short from their totals last year, while China is noticeably absent after ambitious plans to have four UCI C1 races in 2017. However, the event has been a late addition to UCI calendars in the past.

Of course, as with every year, there can be late additions and scratches, and we’ll update this accordingly.
