With the calendar soon turning to December, the World Cup, Superprestige and DVV Trofee / Sack Zelfbouw Ladies Trophy series in European are roughly half over, and the Vittoria Northeast Cyclocross Series is three-fourths in the books.

Thus far, the story of the European Elite Women’s field has been an anyone-can-win feel, with 8 different women—Marianne Vos (WaowDeals Pro Cycling), Kaitie Keough (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld), Annemarie Worst (Steylaerts – 777), Alice Maria Arzuffi (Steylaerts – 777), Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb), Sanne Cant (IKO – Beobank), Kim Van de Steene (Tarteletto – Isorex) and Denise Betsema (Marlux – Bingoal)—winning at least 1 of the 12 major-series races thus far.

The Elite Men’s story has been Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus), dominance of. Van der Poel has won 9 of the 10 major-series races he has entered—and yet only leads one of the three series right now. Toon Aerts (Telenet Fidea Lions) leads the World Cup and DVV Trofee series thanks to his two U.S. World Cup wins and performance at Koppenbergcross.

Today, we take a look at where each of the Vittoria, World Cup, Superprestige and DVV Trophy series are at heading into the second half of the season. To help plan your viewing the rest of the season, see our run-down of each of the European series schedules.

Vittoria Northeast Series

The 2018 Vittoria Northeast Cyclocross Series wraps up this Sunday at the NBX Grand Prix of Cyclocross in Warwick, Rhode Island. Saturday’s race has the extra bonus of being a C1 and it looks like some familiar faces will be back to race.

Heading into the weekend, the Elite Women’s overall will come down to who races in Warwick. Of the top trio of Rebecca Fahringer (Kona Maxxis Shimano), Ellen Noble (Trek Factory Racing CX) and Cassie Maximenko (Van Dessel), only Fahringer is currently registered. We will have a better sense of things when final start lists are available.

Curtis White (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) has the Elite Men’s series wrapped up and is hoping to complete a perfect eight-race Vittoria Series sweep. It will not come easy, however, as the other Nationals podium favorites Stephen Hyde (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld), Kerry Werner (Kona Maxxis Shimano) and Jack Kisseberth (Garneau – Easton p/b Transitions LifeCare) will be racing as well.

Telenet UCI World Cup

Sunday’s World Cup Koksijde marked the fifth race of the 2018 Telenet UCI World Cup series.

Despite skipping the race in Tabor and finishing 12th at Koksijde, Marianne Vos retains the overall Elite Women’s lead powered by her wins in Waterloo and Bern and podium in Iowa City. Both Sanne Cant and Ellen Van Loy are within 20 points, so the last four races should mirror the unpredictability of the season thus far.

Powered by his two U.S. wins, Toon Aerts retains the Elite Men’s lead. Mathieu van der Poel has been perfect thus far in this three World Cups. If Van der Poel wins out, Aerts would have to average a fifth-place or better finish the rest of the way to win the overall. Wout van Aert (Cibel – Cebon Offroad Team) sites 22 points behind Aerts.

Telenet Superprestige

Four of the eight Telenet Superprestige races are in the books.

The Steylaerts – 777 duo of Annemarie Worst and Alice Maria Arzuffi lead the way for the Elite Women. Cant sits in third, eight points behind Worst.

In the Elite Men’s series, Van der Poel has again been perfect. He leads the way, with Aerts six points back.

Next up is Zonhoven on December 16.

DVV Trofee / Sack Zelfbouw Ladies Trophy

The 2018 DVV Trofee / Sack Zelfbouw Ladies Trophy series is three-eighths of the way over. The series uses a time-based approach with second-lap sprint bonuses each race.

Cant currently leads the Elite Women’s series by 31 seconds over Ellen Van Loy and 51 seconds over Kim Van de Steene.

Van der Poel’s poor showing at Koppenbergcross has created some intrigue for the Elite Men. Aerts currently leads Lars van der Haar (Telenet Fidea Lions) by 1:54 and Van der Poel by 1:56. Van der Poel absolutely buried it in the last two laps at Flandriencross, so his winning gap in that race suggests more emphatic performances to come.

Next up is Soudal Scheldecross on December 15.
