After two days of Masters Worlds racing in Mol, Belgium, the Elites took to the sand for the 2017 Zilvermeercross.
With a two-week break between the Zeven/Flandriencross weekend and next weekend’s DVV Verzekeringen / IJsboerke Ladies Trofee race in Essen, several top pros have headed to warmer climes for some mid-season training.
The Women’s and Men’s fields still featured an impressive group of riders, including a number of Americans.

The Women’s race was won by Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb), who was followed by Kim van de Steene (Tarteletto Isorex) and Loes Sels (Crelan-Charles). Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek/Knight Composites) finished fourth and Elle Anderson (Cycling.be – Alphamotorhomes Ladies) eighth. Corey Coogan Cisek (The Fix Studio) of Minnesota took 29th and Christine Vardaros finished 31st.

The Men’s race went to a Van der Poel, just not that Van der Poel. Mathieu’s older brother David got the win ahead of Corne van Kessel (Telenet Fidea Lions). Van der Poel’s Beobank-Corendon teammate Tom Meeusen took third.
