Megan Archer and Christine Vardaros, part of Cyclocross Magazine’s on-the-ground team at the 2017 Cyclocross World Championships in Bieles, caught up with a number of racers after their pre-rides of the icy course, and filmed others including Ellen Noble navigating the tricky corners..
Hear their impressions on the course and expectations and mindset heading into the championship races in the playlist below with a bit of air compressor and power washer ambiance from time to time:
Translation of Jolien Verschueren:
“A beautiful course, but much climbing. The climbing I like, but the descents a bit less. It is a pretty technical track which makes it a bit more difficult for me. But tomorrow I’ll do my very best. I hoped that there would be a bit more mud – so it’s really not a course for me. Will be tough for a podium because there are very many top riders here. I still also suffer from my back and hip injuries I sustained in Hasselt from a fall, so we’ll see how it reacts to racing. For the win we can certainly look to Marianne Vos.”
