Junior Focus on Day 1 of UCI C2 U.S. Open of Cyclocross – October 15th 2016
This weekend, the worlds’ best juniors, top-level professional and amateur cyclocross racers will descend on Colorado for one of the largest UCI events in the West, the U.S. Open of Cyclocross. This action-packed two-day event isn’t just the highlight of the Colorado calendar, it’s where the region’s best teams and riders will converge to crown the next U.S. Open Champion. The first day kicks off on one of the most popular national championship courses at Valmont Bike Park. The short punchy climbs, sand pits, and run-ups will test your grit and determination, but don’t worry there’s plenty of beer and post-race festivities to help dull the post-race fatigue! Day 1 will feature a UCI Junior Race with an overall Junior focus for the afternoon. If you’re an 18-and-under racer be sure to mark Saturday as your time to shine in the spotlight!
For families and spectators the U.S. Open is the one event that is so much more than a cyclocross race. Sure you can expect epic crashes, blood and sweat flowing from the course, and killer tunes being pumped through the speakers, but don’t miss out on the Ska Brewing Tent, ample food vendors, and the largest cyclocross expo around.
A Brand New Course Awaits Racers on Day 2 of UCI C2 U.S. Open of Cyclocross – October 16th 2016
The action started out fast and furious for Day 1 on the old National Championship course! So how do we turn up the heat for Day 2? Sunday will feature a brand new schedule for the amateurs, but the real big change will be the course. Sunday will see a hot new course, one that’s never been raced at Valmont and sure to be a fan and rider favorite. If you thought Day 1 tested your mettle, then get a good night’s sleep because Sunday will bring pure joy, a few tears, and nothing but “Mario Kart” on bikes.
For spectators who came out to be a part of the Day 1 excitement, we hope you have a few more hours of cheering and heckling as the Day 2 course is a sight to be seen. The beer will be flowing in the Ska Brewing Beer Garden all afternoon! Grab that cowbell and baby stroller and head on out to Valmont Bike Park.
