SINT-NIKLAAS, Belgium—As the season winds to a close, the final Bpost Bank Trofee race was held yesterday. Waaslandcross in Sint-Niklaas was a mostly Belgian affair as riders hoped to round out their season’s with some solid results.

In the Junior Men’s race it was World Champion Jens Dekker of The Netherlands against a field of Belgians. Dekker was able to handily take the win, besting Florian Vermeersch by 1:19 and Reno Bauters, who took third and stood another 5 seconds in arrears after the finish.

For the U23 Men, Daan Soete got some Worlds revenge and took the win ahead of countrymen Berne Vankiersbilk and Nicolas Cleppe, who sprinted for the second place spot with Cleppe having to settle for third. World Champion Eli Iserbyt finished sixth. Scott Smith of the United States was 25th.

It was the Elite Women’s World Champion on the front at Waaslandcross, easily taking the victory ahead of British National Champion Nikki Harris and Sanne Cant. Harris’ countrywoman Helen Wyman was 5th while Britlee Bowman and Corey Coogan Cisek came in 17th and 23rd, respectively for the Americans.

And in the Elite Men’s contest, perennial fast starter Laurens Sweeck held on for the win ahead of the reigning World Champion Wout van Aert and now elder statesman Sven Nys. For the Americans, Stephen Hyde finished 17th while Canadian Mark McConnell was 31st.
