Near Misses for Adopted Americans at Worlds, Too

It wasn’t just Gage Hecht that was tantalizing close to a podium spot that slipped away in the closing moments at Worlds. Adopted American and California resident Katerina Nash just missed the podium in the Elite Women’s race at the 2015 World Championships.

Nash had overcome a traffic filled start to work her way to the lead group in an impressive display of skill, power and tenacity. In the closing minutes of the race, riding aggressively to put herself in place for a chance to medal or even win, Nash fell twice. Once letting Marianne Vos by and the second time letting Nikki Harris by.

Many fans would love to see Nash make a return to European racing. And maybe with the news that Eva Lechner is moving to Team LUNA Chix for 2016 a new and dynamic teammate is just the thing to get Nash back on course.

Nash factored in the race, overcoming a slower start to make the lead group, before two untimely crashes in the last few turns took her out of medal contention. Elite Women, 2015 Cyclocross World Championships. © Mathew Lasala / Cyclocross Magazine
