Dutch cyclocross star Lars van der Haar (Giant Alpecin), fresh off his 2015 Valenburg World Cup win and title defense, continued his winning ways in front of the night party and carnival in Woerden, the Netherlands at the Kiremko Nacht van Woerden evening race.

Van der Haar headlined the largely-Dutch-dominated start list, and had a relatively easy path to victory, leading home German Marcel Meisen by 30 seconds.

Americans Jeremy Powers (Aspire Racing), Tobin Ortenblad (Cal Giant) and Andrew Dillman (Cyclocross Network p/b Medical Remarketing) all made the evening start, with 21-year-old Ortenblad finishing top American in 16th, five seconds and one place ahead of Powers. Dillman finished in 32nd.

In the women’s race, Czech Pavla Havlikova (MRM-Avalon), showed that her Valkenburg podium wasn’t a fluke, just as van der Haar would do later.
Havlikova escaped from a group of four to take the UCI C2 win. Just behind her, Ellen van Loy (Telenet Fidea), Sanne Van Paasen (BAA), and Nikki Harris (Telenet Fidea) crossed the line in that order in a three-way sprint.

Kaitie Antonneau (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld), who finished ahead of Havlikova in Valkenburg, finished seventh, the only American woman to race the event, just behind Brit Helen Wyman (Kona).
