Just two months prior to the announcement that the 2014 Masters Cyclocross World Championships would be in Gossau, Switzerland, retired cyclocross legend and perpetual Swiss cyclocross National Champion Beat Wabel decided to apply to host the event.
When the announcement was made that the Masters World Championships would be held in Gossau, Wabel and his team didn’t even have his website ready. “Two months ago, we decided to organize the Masters Worlds,” Wabel told Cyclocross Magazine back in September.
“We are busy with preparation but I hope we can published the website in a few days,” the former Junior Cyclocross World Champ (and Elite bronze medalist) said.
Now the event website is up, and the dates are locked down: January 4-5, 2014, quite close to the USA Cycling 2014 Cyclocross National Championships in Boulder, CO.
