USA Cycling has selected three finalist cities to host the 2014 and 2015 Cyclocross National Championship: Boulder, Colorado (Valmont Bike Park), Austin, Texas (Zilker Park), and Asheville, North Carolina (Billtmore Estate).
With the 2012 and 2013 championship slated for Madison, Wisconsin, USA Cycling reduced an original tally of six bids to three based on accessibility, community support, course options, technical expertise, volunteer recruitment, marketing and lodging.
Before finalizing the decision, USA Cycling will visit each site and meet with local staff from visitors bureaus and sports commissions.
“We are extremely excited about the quality and depth of the bids we received for this event,” National Events Director Kelli Lusk said. “All of the cities offered spectacular presentations. We’re confident that any of these three cities would make a great host for this event in 2014 and 2015.”
