The Midwest Regional Cyclocross Championships (MWRCXC), a collaboration between The Pony Shop, Beverly Bike-Vee Pak, and ROBOTS <3, is proud to announce the 2013 USA Cycling Midwest Regional Cyclocross Championships presented by Intelligentsia Coffee on December 15, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois.
This collaboration grew out of a desire to bring Chicago’s flavor of cyclocross to the rest of the region by providing the Midwest with a professional-level championship event. Building on the annual favorite, Chicago Cyclocross Cup at Dan Ryan Woods (hosted by Beverly Bike-Vee Pak), we will have everything a top-shelf event has to offer: paved start, finishing stretch lined with crowd barriers, fully-stocked neutral support, dedicated power washers for racers, and a course that will test the abilities of even the top racers including the New Balance Run Up!
Eleven regional championship jerseys will be up for grabs, and racers from Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are eligible to compete for the regional championship.
The Men’s Pro/1/2 and Women’s Pro/1/2/3 events will feature a considerable cash payout of at least $1250 per field, paying equally 10 places deep. The three podium finishers for these two events will also receive support services at USA Cycling National Cyclocross Championships courtesy of Pro Bike Express/Chandler Snyder Cycling Services.
Sponsoring the Women’s Pro/1/2/3 race is Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL). CBBEL provides surveying and engineering services throughout Illinois, is fully invested in cycling for its employees, has been named one of the “Best Workplaces for Commuters” and is a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly Business.
Roscoe Village Bikes (RVB) is generously supporting the Masters 35+ race. Owners Alex and Leslie Tweedy have been fixtures in the Chicago cycling community since opening RVB in 2007. The shop has been named “Best Of” in many Chicago-area customer polls year after year, and also fields an impressive cyclocross squad of its own.
For the 15-18 Junior Men, Mavic has stepped up to provide prizes to the top finishers. Additional sponsors include Pepper Palace sponsoring a HOT LAP first-lap prime, ABUS Locks with merchandise, and others!
