ANTWERP, BELGIUM: On a clear, cold day, Katie Compton (TREK) continued her winning streak in the sands of Antwerpen, winning the Cyclocross Soudal Scheldecross in fine solo fashion. Nikkie Harris (Telenet-Fidea) continued in her stellar season, taking second, and Sanne Cant (BKCP-Powerplus) overcame the bruised wrist she suffered from her collision with Compton last week at Roubaix to take third. American Amy Dombroski (Telenet-Fidea) had one of her best European races to date, and finished fourth. American Christine Vardaros finished 16th.
“’Cross racing is never easy,” said Compton after the race. “Today felt better, and I had a much cleaner race [than last week at Roubaix]. I like it a lot here, it’s a good combination of sand and hard pedal sections. It was a good one, I always enjoy winning, so I’m happy.”
