It caught us off-guard as well, but for Masters (racing age 30 or over), registration for the USAC Cyclocross National Championships in Bend, Oregon opens this weekend.
It opens at 12:01 a.m. EDT (that’s Friday night for other time zones!), the perfect time if you’re racing a big race, like maybe Providence or Ohio the next morning. Like in years past, registration order does affect your start position, but this year, it’s just within your racing category (Cat I-IV). (So if you’re a Cat IV, get your rest, you’re not going to be near the front anyway, and are probably better off sleeping in, getting some upgrade points and registering as a Cat III.)
The other categories (Juniors, Elite, singlespeed, B) will open on Monday 12:01 a.m. EDT. That’s Sunday night.
You’ll need a valid USAC license # in order to sign up. Mountain bike or Road are both acceptable.

Stay tuned for more info. It’s sad that this process is a surprise to anyone, and after last year’s controversial, confusing process.
Cyclocross Magazine contacted promoter Brad Ross, and he said USA Cycling is handling the entire registration process with SportsBaseOnline.
