Celebrating its 25th anniversary this past weekend, the Cycle-Smart Northhampton International has been bringing world-class cyclocross racing to New England longer than many of its participants have been alive.
This week’s Throwback Thursday video, posted by Henry Jurenka—who has an amazing archive of vintage cyclocross videos, takes a look at Elite Men’s race at the 13th anniversary of the Cycle-Smart International, which happened on November 16, 2003.
Race features riders that would go on to do great things domestically and internationally: Jackson Stewart, Todd Wells, Marc Gullickson, Jesse Anthony, Andy and Ben Jacques-Maynes, Brent Bookwalter and Jeremy Powers. These racers are just the tip of the iceberg, be sure to check out the full results for some names that are still out there to this day, winning races—and a few fun blasts from the past.
Check out bikereg.com for a full writeup of 2003 Cycle-Smart International, including Mo Bruno Roy finishing top-10 in the Elite Women’s race and Jamey Driscoll winning the Junior’s race.
