As many of the top riders head north for the NACT Whitmore’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup in New York, others are looking to a slightly less extravagant area for valuable UCI points. The North Carolina Grand Prix of Cyclocross is set to take place November 22-23 at Jackson Park, in the quaint town of Hendersonville, North Carolina. .

North Carolina Cyclocross Founder and Grand Prix organizer Tim Hopkin added some extra motivation for elite racers to make their way south this weekend by returning entry fees to all elite racers who pre-register for and start the race. Free entry paired with UCI-regulated payouts surely attracted the attention of many of the country’s top male and female riders.

The men’s elite race will be the highlight of the weekend. With the names of Jeremiah Bishop, Steve Tilford and Jonathan Baker scattered about the start list, the race is clearly not lacking talent.

There will be a race within the race this weekend as the North Carolina Grand Prix of cyclocross is part of the North Carolina Cyclocross series. Elite men and women’s leaders Will black (Moots) and Cara Applegate (BMW-Bianchi) will be looking for success this weekend to defend their series overalls, but will have a stronger field on their hands than they are accustomed to.

In typical Carolina fashion, the weather is expected to be mild but pleasant for riders this weekend and there is no sign of rain in the forecast.

Riders can view race information, course maps, and pre–register here.
