KINGSPORT, Tennessee—Cold temperatures and bright sun greeted the racers at the fifth annual Kingsport Cyclocross Cup. Forty eight racers in the Elite Men’s event, and 31 Elite Women battled for the podium over the fast, punch course, which featured boards, sand, off camber sections and pavement.
For the Elite Men’s race, Jeremy Powers took off for the title alone and left Kerry Werner and Jeremy Durrin behind and battling for second and third. Powers came in 41 seconds ahead of Werner who took second just 2 seconds ahead of Durrin.
In the Elite Women’s race, it was a very similar story. Amanda Miller distanced the rest of the women’s field and soloed to the win. Behind, Elen Noble took second, 29 seconds later, with Jena Greaser just 2 additional seconds back in third.
From here, these racers will head to Asheville, North Carolina, for the 2016 USA Cycling National Championships.
