Weekend Outlook and Fantasy Cyclocross Minute - November 21

Now, I may be a bit biased, well a bit really biased, but the most important race on my calendar is this weekend in Southampton, New York. Why is that? Well, for one, my club runs it. For two, its an epic race and has featured some of the best professional fields in America over the past few years, and for three, if you look at the staff list, I’m assistant director… (I swear I didn’t put myself in that position because I made the tech guide, swear!) So, this weekend plays host to the Whitmore’s Landscaping Supercross Cup in Southampton, New York. [More…]
Fantasy Cyclocross Update - November 18

I do apologize for the delay in releasing this week’s fantasy analysis. I got stuck studying for some excellent quizzes and tests, and have stuffed my brain full of the inner workings of the Urea Cycle and Fatty Acid Beta Oxidation. If only this stuff made me faster… [More…]
Euro & Fantasy Update: Neils Albert Out for Several Weeks

Neils Albert injured his spleen in warm-ups for Sunday’s race in Aspere-Gavere. Belgian TV Teletekst reports that this morning he felt fine, but by 4:30 p.m. was much worse and was kept in intensive care at the University of Ghent, and is expected to remain there for several days. There is still fluid and inflamation, putting pressure [More…]
Weekend Outlook and Fantasy Cyclocross Minute - November 12

Another big weekend, full of valuable points, is on tap for the weekend of the 15th and 16th of November. The Superprestige makes its third stop in Gavere, Belgium while the United States Gran Prix of Cyclocross makes its third and fourth stops, with the Mercer Cup in East Windsor, New Jersey. Another balanced team will make this weeks winners, while a team too heavy on European talent may leave you out in the cold, as two thirds of the weekend’s points will come from the States. Somehow, I qualify as “the media” and will be watching, first-hand, the excitement that is this weekend’s Mercer Cup. [More…]

Everyone relieved that the election is finally over? I know I sure am, that way I can go back to diagnosing the world of elite cyclocross and the only polling system that matters is my homegrown cyclocross fantasy scoring system. How home grown is it? Well, I’m in fourth. Just sayin. [More…]

Jacob Sisson has got another weekend preview and fantasy league outlook. Enjoy!
It’s an action packed couple of days this weekend, as the UCI has put together a set of three C1 races for us to worry about. The action is not just confined to Europe, either, with the United States playing host to some hot racing action. Colorado is the site of this Sunday’s C1 Boulder Cup, which will showcase the top North American talent as they vie for the lead in the North American Cyclocross Trophy series. Saturday’s menu has on tap the Internationale Veldritten op de Koppenberg in Oudenaarde, Belgium. [More…]

World Cup Preview and Fantasy Cyclocross Minute - October 24

That ought to teach you to trust my picks eh? I did pretty well last week at the top end of the lineup, but the bottom half left something to be desired. Jonathan Page ran into some unfortunate stumbling blocks and abandoned, and Linda Van Rijen finished outside the points. Oops. Either way, another week brings another World Cup, and unlike last weekend, there’s no other way to get yourself points, so for the first week so far, a strong Euro squad is the name of the game.
In our fantasy league standings, Affurdoma!!! sits atop the ranks, with Team Cali and WDB close behind.
This week’s World Cup takes place in Tabor, Czech Republic. Unlike last weekend’s stop in Kalmthout, Tabor will be offering points to the young guns, with a U23 race on the menu to go along with the Women’s and Men’s races. A slight chill will be in the air that day, with daytime [More…]
