New Sponsor

The UCI has announced “Safety Jogger” is the presenting sponsor of the ‘07-08 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. A sponsor of cyclocross is someone we’re happy to give some additional exposure. Plus, those Safety Jogger boots look very handy in the cold, muddy days of peak season ‘cross. [More…]

Wrenching…

August 19th, 2007   Filed Under ideas

I just spent yet another half-weekend in the garage making all sorts of tweaks to the variety of bikes I’ve managed to cram into my single-car garage (and it still holds a car). Sometimes I find wrenching to be very rewarding; you know, getting greasy, fixing some trivial issue that has been driving me nuts for weeks, maybe even an easy upgrade. [More…]

New Cross Poll

August 18th, 2007   Filed Under polls

The “How many years have you been racing cross?” poll is now closed.
Here is the outcome:

What’s Cross? 0 votes
I’m just getting started! 50 votes
I’m sandbagging C’s 29 votes
I’ve got a pit bike ;-) 68 votes
Cross was my idea! 12 votes
159 total votes

Looks like we have some pretty dedicated readers - most have pit bikes. Nice, very nice.

We just added a new poll to see what everyone’s bike locker looks like, don’t worry we won’t tell anyone about the secret bikes hanging in the garage that no one is counting ;-)

Two “subscribe” options

August 11th, 2007   Filed Under editorial, publishing

The site and magazine are progressing rapidly, so we’ve got two “subscribe” options for you currently. Up top, there’s a form to fill out if you’re interested in subscribing to our print mag and want to hear when it’s ready.

To the right, we’ve got a notifier that will tell you when we update this site. Fill out one or both, and we’ll keep you updated.

How did you first get involved in cyclocross?

One of our goals in starting this magazine is to help grow the sport we all love. To that end, we hope we can build awareness of ‘cross and interest people in trying it out or coming out to watch. So we wanna know about your first ‘cross kiss.

I’ve been a bike racer basically all my life, so my story is probably a bit different than most. Finding a way to try to ride two wheels really fast, [More…]

5×8 or 8×11?

August 7th, 2007   Filed Under print mag, publishing

We’re debating between two sizes for our magazine, 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ OR 8 1/2″ by 11″. Here is a short list of our reasoning for either:

Smaller is easier to read on the go, good subway reading is so hard to find these days. Larger is easier to see on a magazine shelf, although one could argue the opposite since the smaller one might stand out more because it’s different. Larger will allow for more content, conversely, smaller is cheaper. [More…]
